She began her career as a singer in a jazz club in Osaka when she was 18. A few years later, she joined keyboardist and guitarist ???? (Masaya Matsuura) to form PSY?S in 1983. During their time in a band together, she became recognized in the Japanese jazz scene for her strong, powerful voice. Their collaboration lasted until 1996. She began her solo career immediately afterward, and recorded an album nearly every year from 1997 to 2004.
