Icon for Hire is an American rockband, formed in 2007, from Decatur, Illinois. Their label is Tooth & Nail Records. In 2011, Icon For Hire released their first CD Scripted and has been on tour with Red. They are often tagged as "Christian Rock" but they recently commented on their facebook page: "We are not. It's always been important to us to influence the culture around us, to be a source of hope in darkness so to speak.
You can't get to the so-called darkness by playing all churches and only hanging out in the christian music world. There are a lot of great christian rock bands that are reaching christian listeners, but we don't really want to add to that list. We are a group of punk kids trying to live out what the bible says, and being a christian band would be totally counter-productive for us."
