1) Helsinki -based band The Milestones, who have tried to find the real roots of rock and roll throughout their career, has released it's robust third album "Devil In Me". "Now we've got the feeling that we've finally found something magical; our own sound without forgetting where we come from. These new songs are a little hats-off to all the legendary bands that have influenced us and the music we have planted our roots in.
The album will be like a big bang, like a real earthquake!" Bold, soulful and groovy are the words to describe The Milestones whose 70's influences include pioneers such as The Allman Bros, Humble Pie, Free and Steppenwolf. "It was great to work on new songs after hearing all these great bands and getting influenced by them once again. We've tried to keep our music as simple as possible but really spontaneous as well. We've been jamming a bit especially at the live shows. It makes the whole atmosphere even dangerous. It gives us a chance to come up with a couple of surprises every now and again and it keeps the whole thing fresh." The rootsy sound of The Milestones is built on Olavi Tikka's recognizable voice, in which you can hear hints of David Coverdale and Paul Rogers. Together with two perfectly interacting guitars and a ballsy rhythm section the band can do no wrong. After few years of silence the band is coming back with its original line-up. They have fine-tuned themselves to the limit. Classic Rock Magazine noticed it as well and chose The Milestones-song" Ragged Lies" to kick off the Southern Rock compilation CD that was released with issue no. 121. The new album is being recorded in the fall of 2008. "There's a bigger engine under the hood these days. We're not in a rush but sometimes it just feels so good to push the pedal to the floor and go as fast as you can!"
