Johnny Kemp is an R&B and dance music singer and dancer born in Nassau, Bahamas. Johnny Kemp was born in Nassau in the Bahamas, and according to the Just Got Paid Songfacts, moved to New York as a teenager in 1979 to front a group called Kinky Fox. In the '80s, he became part of the club singer scene, which is where he met Teddy Riley. He hit #10 on the Hot 100 in 1988 with the Riley produced "Just Got Paid." The song also went to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His only other Hot 100 entry was its follow-up, "Birthday Suit," which climbed to #36 in 1989.
