There are 2 bands with the name Thirty Ought Six. 1)a three piece band formed in 1992 in Portland Oregon. 2) a four piece band formed in 2004 in Columbus Ohio 1) Thirty Ought Six was founded in 1992 by Sean Roberts (bass, vocals), David Blunk (guitar) and Ryan Paravecchio (drums). Roberts moved to Portland, Oregon in 1991 from Arlington, Virginia and had already been working with Paravecchio for several months when Blunk moved to Portland from Washington, DC in 1992 to join the band.

1) Thirty Ought Six was founded in 1992 by Sean Roberts (bass, vocals), David Blunk (guitar) and Ryan Paravecchio (drums). Roberts moved to Portland, Oregon in 1991 from Arlington, Virginia and had already been working with Paravecchio for several months when Blunk moved to Portland from Washington, DC in 1992 to join the band. Their first full length album was BOSOZOKU, released in 1994, and their second full length album was Hagseed, released in 1995

Thirty Ought Six (or "30.06") combined the proto-emo sound of the Dischord label bands Roberts and Blunk had admired in Washington, DC with the textured, contrapuntal style of bands like Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine and the dynamics of groups like the Pixies or the Wedding Present.
