1) A hardcore band from Detroit, started in the 1980s and still active today.
2) Scandinavian rock act powered by Flemming Rasmussen, who signed the band to his new Sweet Silence imprint on 31/1-04. Two months later, their first single, Superstar, hit the top 5 on the Danish singles chart. Rasmussen produced their debut album, Rock 'n' Roll Prostitute, which was released on 30/8-04 and reached top 20 on several indie charts. The State has toured heavily in their native Denmark, where they are famous for their powerful and dynamic live performance. The band is heading for the studio in order to record the follow-up album, for which Flemming Rasmussen is serving as the producer.
3) The State was also an American punk band active in the early 1980s with an abstract jazz-influenced sound similar to some no wave acts such as James Chance & The Contortions.
4) The State was a half hour long sketch comedy television show, broadcast on MTV from 1993 to 1995 and now available on iTunes. It featured the talents of Michael Ian Black, Ben Garant, Todd Holoubek, Michael Patrick Jann, Kerri Kenney, Thomas Lennon, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Michael Showalter, and David Wain.
