Currents. Currents is a Christian hardcore band based in Houston, Tx. We strive to spread real relationship with the only true King, the only one who can satisfy. In late 2011 Currents formed and began writing material for the January 2012 release of a free EP entitled "The King" which is available via bandcamp. After this release Currents worked on playing shows in and out of Houston and ended up signing to Red Cord Records.

After a week of secluded writing and 2 weeks in the Red Cord studio Currents is scheduled to release their debut full-length called "Spirit and Truth" under Red Cord records on November 13th 2012.

Drawing on influences as diverse as guitar rock, punk, jazz, classical, beat- and whitmanesque-style poetry, Currents are constantly trying to push the basic two guitars, drums and bass rock formula into as many different directions as possible. The result is moody music with an edge, with repetitive beats, spiralling guitar-interplay and a simplistic punk energy. Lyrically, themes like everyday ruminations on life, love and nature are touched upon, often governed by whim. Familiar enough to keep you tuned in, yet with enough new personality to wonder what's around the next chord. The slightly rasping, raw, impassioned vocals of Christian Sommer weave in and out of the music, forming part of the canvas, and not the only part you hear. Rightly so, as the twiddly guitar breaks like the one on ?Cloud? are just as noteworthy. A fresh new hope from Sweden that deserves a global audience.
