??? (HIRASAWA Susumu) was born in T?ky? on 2 April 1954. In 1972 he attended ????????? (T?ky? Designer Academy) and formed his first band Mandrake, which would last for 6 years. When MANDRAKE came to an end in 1978, only a year later P-Model was formed, a new project for which he was accompanied by 2 other ex-members of MANDRAKE. P-MODEL was a techno-pop that, with Susumu's genius and vision, broke down barriers and was always a step ahead of the techno boom that was occurring in Japan at the time.
Susumu also launched a solo career, initially as a side-project to P-MODEL, with the album ???? (Jik? no Mizu) in 1989.
By 1999 P-MODEL had come to an end, but his solo career is still going strong. So far he has released 3 albums since the breakup, the most recent of which, ??? (Byakkoya-White Tiger Field) hit stores 02.02.06. With the album Vistoron in 2004, he resurrected his second band under the new name of ?P-MODEL (KAKU P-MODEL). This is not a reunion of the band, but a solo work performed in style of P-MODEL.
Hirasawa is a spiritual man, and embraces yin and yang. When he feels that something has thrown off the balance that he so values, he'll make a statement with no hesitation. After America went to war with Iraq he opened "Songs Against the Carnage", a site where individuals may download for free 2 specially arranged songs which address the carnage and bloodshed that he so opposes.
