Annette Funicello was discovered by Walt Disney himself during the auditions for his new TV-show "Mickey Mouse Club" and went on to become one of the stars of that show. Walt Disney further pushed her carreer in the areas of movies as well as song, resulting in Annette Funicello (back then usually referred to only as "Annette") to become the American Girl Next Door. Many of her big recording hits were written by the Sherman brothers who by this way came to the attention of Walt Disney himself who later on employed them to compose the music for various movies and the Disney theme parks.
