Known best for his role as Gomer Pile, USMC (on this show as well as the Andy Griffith Show), Jim Nabors powerful voice continues to surprise listeners. Born James Thurston Nabors, 12 June, 1930, in Sylacauga, AL, it is said that Nabors began singing in church services as a small child. He was discovered by Griffith while singing in a night club in California. While better known as an actor by many, most of his work was singing. His biggest hits came during the 60s and 70s, singing Sinatra style standards and gospel music.
