Fred Hess is a tenor saxophone player out of Denver, Colorado. The winner of several awards, including the 2000 Julius Hemphill Award for Jazz Composition, he has a PhD in music composition from The University of Colorado at Boulder and now is Coordinator of Jazz Studies at The Metropolitan State College of Denver.
