Do Me Bad Things

Do Me Bad Things were a nine-piece blues/rock/soul/metal band from Croydon, London who broke up in January 2006. They started out supposedly not intending to be a band, and admit to having no aspirations of fame. DMBT began on Valentine's Day 2003 with Alex Lewis, Tom Shotton and Ad Mallett deciding to create a rock trio for fun. Eventually they realised that their material needed to have two vocalists in places and they needed another vocalist for other songs. Nicolai Prowse (vocals) had been in bands with Tom and Rich when they were younger, as had Alex.

Nicolai Prowse (vocals) had been in bands with Tom and Rich when they were younger, as had Alex. The line-up grew with the introduction of Chantal, with whom Tommy had been working in a bookshop. Adding Mark, Kimberley and Clare completed DMBT.

They spent time rehearsing and playing gigs in local venues, one of which viewed by Must Destroy records, who signed them up to Atlantic. Do Me Bad Things' first Must Destroy release, was in June 2004. "The Song Rides" gained airplay on Zane Lowe's Radio One show and earned a session with XFM's John Kennedy. DMBT provided a sound which has been described as the missing link between The Scissor Sisters and Led Zeppelin. Summer 2004 was spent supporting others and making a name for themselves at the Carling Weekend and Download Festival

October 2004 brought the release of their second Must Destroy single "Time For Deliverance" which launched them further into the mainstream, getting regular video performances and television spots for Nicolai and Chantal. By November and December 2004 DMBT were touring the UK's biggest arenas supporting fellow Must Destroy band The Darkness on their Permission To Land Winter Tour, impressing the audience.

2005 was spent recording and releasing their debut album "Yes!", and later on releasing single number 3 "Move in Stereo (Liv Ullman on Drums)", in June. DMBT created several internal musical ensembles to use during gigs. These were mostly a few members working with some 'outsiders', although this is only for entertainment value and does not threaten DMBT. These mini bands one of which being a Misfits tribute band called Ghouls Aloud, were used at a Halloween Show and are also being used in the Must Destroy Christmas Tour. 2005 also saw the departure of vocalists Kimberley and Clare for undisclosed reasons.

On 11th January 2006, Do Me Bad Things split up, posting the following message on their website:

"We regret to announce that Do Me Bad Things will no longer record or perform live together. It has been lots of fun doing so for the last three years, however, all good things must come to an end, as they say. We would like to thank everyone that has worked with us at any point, and especially all the good people that bought the records and came out to see us. It meant a lot. We would like to point out that ultimately, this has been an amicable split and there is nothing more to really say on the matter other than that it was Adam's fault. Best regards and many thanks Do Me Bad Things"
