ARH is a trio, basically guitar and keyboards oriented but, through their song-craft and diverse instrumentation, come across more as a tour-de-force threesome. All three are native Atlantans and, having lived in various places around the world, they reside there today. ARH has built a solid reputation for great songs and live performances. Ward Abel and Steve Rawls have been working together musically since their mid-teen years. Ward has become a widely published poet in recent years (L. Ward Abel) as well as a highly respected lyricist.
Ward Abel and Steve Rawls have been working together musically since their mid-teen years. Ward has become a widely published poet in recent years (L. Ward Abel) as well as a highly respected lyricist. Sloan Hayes has been in many popular groups, both local and national. Ward and Steve met Sloan at Atlanta's Real 2 Reel Studios. Sloan performed on the two Abel and Rawls releases, 1997's "Two Months" and 2001's "As We Wake From Our Sleep". While those two projects were band oriented it wasn't long before Abel and Rawls wanted to get out and play in clubs as an acoustic duo. In some pre-production work on the upcoming release, Sloan joined the duo and there you have it...Abel, Rawls, and Hayes!
With years of writing and performing between them, the chemistry between the members brings out the best in each of them. In live shows, songs from previous releases are well received even though they are re-worked to suit the trio.
