London based producer and instrumentalist Andy Dobson has been writing and performing music as Digitonal since 1997. It wasn't until a chance meeting with Egyptian session violinist Samy Bishai in a basement studio in Tooting, however, that the outfit's collision of cinematic atmosphere, AI-era-Warp electronica and classically-influenced beauty fully took shape. UK Festival appearances at The Big Chill, Bestival, Dedbeat, Bloc Party and Cheltenham, alongside a major UK tour with The Bays in '07, cemented their reputation as a dynamic live electronica act, and have led to performances throughout the UK, Europe and the US.
In April 2008, they played at the NASA Ames Research Base in California and also became the first band to remix UK Techno pioneers B12.
Now in their new home at Just Music, and fresh from collaborating with UK post rockers 65daysofstatic on their 3rd album, Digitonal have recruited the accomplished electronica producer Josh Doherty (Posthuman, AGT Rave Cru) and will release their 2nd full-length, Save Your Light for Darker Days, on the 1st of September 2008.
