The name Delorean Grey was created from a combination of the 19th century novel by Oscar Wilde and the defunct 1980s car popularized by the Back to the Future trilogy of movies. Wildes revised and only full length novel A Picture of Dorian Gray was released in 1891and among other topics dealt with themes concerning the Ignorance of Youth and the Consequence of Vanity. The DeLorean DMC-12 was an automobile produced by the DeLorean Motor Company in 1981 and while the car was very beautiful on the outside, it turned out to be less than functional and a bit of a lemon.
In this respect the bands name pays homage to lessons learned and the true value of inner beauty. The band plays music as part of something much larger than they are as individuals. Its Rock'n'Roll with a heart.
