Dead Messenger spent the later half of 2008 hunkered down at The Pound, (Montreal's now infamous art space/live venue and home base for the band) working on and writing new material. In October they reconvened to a barn on the Ontario/Quebec border with producer Jonathan Cummins (Hot Springs, Starvin Hungry, Tricky Woo). After six weeks of pre production they moved into break glass studios to work with engineer Jace Lasek (Wolf Parade, Patrick Watson, Besnard Lakes). "Love IS The Only Weapon" is what came out of those long days in that wooden barn in Glengarry county and late nights in the Studio; After countless packs of cigarettes, bottomless cups of coffee and too many beers to even count, Dead Messenger recorded an album that harkens back to the year 1977 while maintaining a pop sensibility that is both rugged and timeless..
