Born in 1960, Dan Pinto is a multi-keyboardist and drummer/percussionist. Beginning his career first as a drummer in 1974 and later expanding rapidly into keyboards, his active career as a live performer spanned between 1980 and 1990. He's opened for Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and recorded with many other artists on both studio & live CD releases such keyboards for "Doug Wain" on "Live, at the Ritz in New York" and drums on Jimmy Mac's "3 Point Play" CD release with Dave LaRue on Bass. On keyboards, Dan Pinto has a passion for playing the piano.
He uses this instrument to write all the music that he creates. Although he began composing in 1977, he became much more focused in writing music by 1990 with credits for AT&T, CNN, RCA, local cable stations and industrial video. By 1993, his music was placed consistently on the well known TV series "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous" and "Runaway With The Rich & Famous." From there he turned to working with independant film makers composing soundtracks including the full length score for the indie film "Die For A Life."
The styles of music that Dan Pinto writes most notably vary from Jazz-Rock Fusion to Orchestral Moviesound with what is not less than 5 audio CD releases on his own. While he has had much experience writing music utilizing the sounds of an orchestra, he has most recently released a CD by the name of "Anomalies" that focuses on Jazz-Rock Fusion in combination with movie music. It's the first time Dan Pinto has joined the two styles together in that way. It is also the first time that he has invited several additional players to peform on one of his albums as the music also encompasses electric guitar, reeds, woodwinds and female voice.
Dan Pinto has recently been awarded a nomination in the "Just Plain Folks" music contest for "2006 Best Instrumental Song Of The Year" with his composition titled "The Haunting" from his "Ivory Towers" album.
