Starting in 2008, friends Joey Shelly and Charlie Santilena came together with the main idea of writing music that they love and could create a career out of. After recruiting Robbie Blatt and Ian Hoey the band quickly took off. With upbeat distorted guitars and unbelievably catchy choruses, it wasn't long before the band was asked to play along side influences such as Rise Against, Mayday Parade and Thrice at concerts such as Wreck the Halls and Warped Tour. However, by the end of 2009 the band dissolved when Robbie and Ian left to follow other paths.
Charlie and Joey originally picked the name because no matter how hard they tried to succeed in the music business, everything would blow up in their face. After a year off, they knew that even despite the constant change of keeping a band together that it was a dream that they wanted to follow. The band's name, Chasing Claymores, is a representation of following that dream despite the obstacles that are encountered along the way.
In Spring of 2011, Charlie brought in Scott Baird to play guitar for another project. However, after only a few practices, they both realized that there was a strong tie in with the previous music released by Chasing Claymores. They quickly got in contact with Joey and brought back the old moniker. As soon as they started practicing, everything just "clicked" and songs begin to take a new edge with the same familiar hook that helped the band rise up to begin with.
The band is currently writing new music for a 5 song EP the will be recorded in October of 2011.
