Doug, formerly of the Bucktown All-Stars (a founding member), and former All-Stars lead singer, Maverick, decided to get back into the game and form a new band with an eye toward playing what they wanted to play rather than what was expected.
Doug brought along his guitar-playin' buddy, Glenn, and lured his cousin Chris of Cannes Brulees with the chance to play bass like he has always wanted to. They rang up Kenny, music scene vet and some-time All-Stars drummer, who has played more places with more people than we have time to document while we are still relatively young, and finally got their good buddy, Steve, also a former All-Star, to throw in. And the band was complete.
The gumbo they've cooked up has a rouux that's definitely Classic Rock, but with a heavy dose of Southern Rock and, dare we say it, some Country flavoring in there, too! And it tastes great! Voila! They named it "61 South" after the highway that leads to New Orleans as all good highways should.
