1. A cartographer used to be an epic source of inspiration for people who seem to be looking for something they are missing in their lives. When you combine this reasoning with five musicians and a great interest in psychology and philosophy, you'll find the band Cartographer. They see their music as their own contribution to the meaning of the word and hope to inspire other people in this way.

Their ...first EP is inspired by a psychiatrist, who developed a theory about dealing with grief. The EP consists of five songs that are inspired by the five stages of grief. These stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. For the artwork of this EP and the live shows, Cartographer have collaborated with Aalt van de Glind, a promising student at the Art Academy in Enschede.
If you were to attend a Cartographer live show, you would be amazed by the energy that comes blazing from the stage. You will have to see this with your own eyes, hear this with your own ears, and feel the energy of the music for yourself. The boys will do their best to impress you with their music that is inspired by bands such as Karnivool, Oceansize, Muse and Porcupine Tree. After all, they do not only connect through their common taste in music, but also through their love for live performances and live experiences. With three guitarists in the band, Cartographer will produce a wall of sound varying from intense eruptions to clean, dreamy parts common in post/progressive rock music.

2.
Cartographer was Ben Adrian and a drum machine. They made music to confuse and annoy people. They rarely played.
In 2009 Ben asked formed Replicator bandmate Chris Bolig to play drums. That worked out well. Then they asked Generalissimo and Mt. Vicious guitarist Andr? Zivkovich to play bass. That has also worked out well. Now they're seeing what happens.
