Burn the Effigy began as a three piece in the summer of '07 following the auspicious colaboration of myself with the one they call "Rio". Among other things, Rio was found to be a drummer. With Rio on drums, Rio's friend, Travis Delange, on bass, and myself on guitar/vocals, this power trio was ready to take Providence by storm. Although, as luck would have it, this line-up would fade away as soon as it came together with the introduction of a young up-and-comer by the name of Joey Goncalves, soon to be.
Although, as luck would have it, this line-up would fade away as soon as it came together with the introduction of a young up-and-comer by the name of Joey Goncalves, soon to be..."The Viper". Joey would prove to have been the critical element upon which the entire line-up would bear witness to drastic yet positive change.
Like dominos cascading atop one another in beautiful accord, we soon found that Joe was a much better drummer than the original guitar player we first auditioned him for (while Rio was out on a cigarette break). Travis, was in fact, a better guitar player than bassist. Which made room for my long-standing band mate, Nick McGowan a.k.a "Mr. Magoo" to step in on thunderous bass. After much blood, sweat, and tears...and a few VH1 behind the music's...the mysterious Rio would never be seen again and Travis would have quoted to "The National Inquirer", "artistic differences" as his reason for leaving the band. SO NOW, we are a three piece band hailing from providence, RI. We play local venues such as the living room, blackstone, etc. We are Burn the Effigy.
