Bigger Than Dallas was an Americana group influenced by the members' own musical heroes ranging from The Vigilantes of Love to Nickel Creek to Wilco. Frontman Rob Alderman formed BTD after the breakup of his former project, Typical Sloan. BTD produced two full-length albums and two LPs before the band divided and moved on to other projects. BTD began with Eleven:Eleven Records and moved to Troubletown Records for their last two albums. They were based in Cleveland, TN for the duration of their existence, and could sometimes be found traveling far out of state for shows in an old VW Vanagon.

Their style can be difficult to describe, but perhaps the band put it best when they described themselves as the anthem of jean jackets, apple pie, and the season of fall.
