Wildman, Poly-sonic, singing drummer / guitarist Brian Charles Hedemann aka ?BEATTREE' sits at the centre of his drum kit whilst simultaneously ambidextrously triggering samples as if he was an Octopus. Having grown up in a musical environment, Hedemann practiced on pots pans and anything else he could get his hands on. His father (Preben Hedemann) was an international trumpet player, so for Brian, a musical path and destiny was inevitable.
Having gained a scholarship in his hometown in Denmark in 1997, young Hedemann packed his bags and headed for England with a clear vision of taking his ?Poly-RhytmoSonic? sound to the world stage. Endless hours spent burning the midnight oil, in a room beneath north London skies, scoring poly-rhythmic formulas on rolls of sheet music paper, ? hauling drum kits?., guitar?. and fx to test his sound in London venues, after years had paid off. Resulting in Hedemann receiving a degree with honours in Jazz and Popular Music at the London College Of Music by 2002. Hedemann enjoyed the best part of his twenties playing with the cream of London's music scene, earning him respect and a reputation for being a maverick drummer/ singer-songwriter/ artist, with a golden voice often compared to Jeff Buckley. Hedemann's sound incorporates his broad knowledge of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Soul, Drum n Bass, Funk, Indie, Rock, Electronica, and various Eastern influences. The modest perfectionist Hedemann meticulously crafts his music with scientific precision. His songs combine a warm commercially-distinct richness with deep heartfelt ethereal lyrics and evocative vocal melodies. Artistically, Hedemann's work aims to champion craftsmanship, the importance of honest originality and creative integrity within popular music. His vision of forming ?BeatTree' was realized when Hedemann gained a residency in 2004 at East London's infamous Spitz Club situated at the heart of Spitalfields market. He handpicked a fierce musical ensemble, directing it from the pulsating centre on drums, vocals and fx. Since then, ?BeatTree' has taken the live sound to venues and festivals across the UK and Europe. With featured artists Hedemann organically expands the branches of his ?BeatTree' ensemble to share passionate collaborative performances with some of the most accomplished players and vocalists on London's vibrant music scene, and with this, the challenge of pioneering new ?Poly-Sonic? avenues. BeatTree released a taster debut EP in 2008 and the album will follow next year.
