Dc Drive

DC DRIVE was borne out of the demise of ADRENALIN, a hotly tipped act whose career had promised to break big on successive occasions. Unfortunately ADRENALIN's momentum, despite heavy radio play and extensive national touring, was thwarted by label and industry scandals. Following issue of ADRENALIN's 1986 album 'Road Of The Gypsy' the group was hit by a number of line-up changes. Vocalist Marc Gilbert and guitarist Flash departed with the remaining members of the group teaming up with former GRAND FUNK RAILROAD frontman MARK FARNER in early 1987.

This new outfit became MARK FARNER & ADRENALIN touring America playing old GRAND FUNK RAILROAD material and new material penned by Farner.

Although there were plans to record an album with Farner, by 1988 the group had decided to go it alone and, leaving Farner's company, recruited new vocalist Joey 'Harmody' Bowen to the cause and planned to find a new deal following the loss of their contract with MCA. However, in the early 90s a quartet of former members of ADRENALIN, guitarist Michael Romeo, keyboard player Mark Pastoria, saxophonist Jimmy Romeo and drummer Brian Pastoria, teamed up in DC DRIVE, a group that also comprised Bowen and ex-TILT and FLASH KAHAN bassist Doug Kahan, releasing a self-titled Vini Poncia produced album.

DC DRIVE opened their career in spectacular style, performing an inaugural home town gig before an audience of 50,000 people guesting for CHEAP TRICK. In spite of the undoubted quality of the record national success was unforthcoming and DC DRIVE folded as Bowen bailed out to go solo. The Pastoria siblings maintained their presence in the music community by founding Harmonie Park recording studios in downtown Detroit. At the instigation of DJ Doug Podell ADRENALIN reformed in May of 2002. A new album, compiling archive ADRENALIN and DC DRIVE tracks, entitled 'Twenty Five Years 1977-2002' emerging that same year.
