Considered by many the "Brazilian Gentle Giant", Terreno Baldio is one of the most important progressive groups of that coutry. Formed in the early 70s, they released an homonymous LP in 1975. It was limited to 3000 copies and the master tape was lost, so a re-release was impossible. The line-up was: Jo?o Carlos Kurk (vocal, flute & percussion), Mozart de Mello (guitar), Ronaldo Lazzarini (keyboards), Ascen??o (bass) and Joaquim Correia (drums & percussion).
The band recorded another album in 1976, "Al?m das Lendas Brasileiras", with lyrics about Brazilian legends. That theme was imposed by the recorder in the contract. In this disc the bass was played by Rodolfo Ayres Braga (Joelho De Porco) instead of Ascen??o. Two years later, Terreno Baldio disbanded.
There was a reunion in 1993 to re-record their first LP, but in English and with bonus tracks (so it is considered their 'third' album). The formation for this new Terreno was Kurk, Mello and Lazzarini.
