Alan Pownall

Alan Pownall is a singer/songwriter from South West London, UK. His music has been compared to many artists from the London Folk scene, such as Jay Jay Pistolet and Noah And The Whale. He sees himself as more of a crooner and would rather be likened to Michael Bubl?. He released two singles 'Colourful Day' with Pure Groove and 'Clara/The Others' with Young and Lost Club. His song 'Chasing Time' was featured on a Nokia ad.

He was signed to Mercury Records and released his debut single, Chasing Time, on 22 March 2010.
Alan studied art in Italy before moving to London to concentrate on his music. He supported London singer Adele on her debut headline tour, after meeting her at a gig and contacting her through her MySpace profile. Soon after that, Alan moved into a flat with friend and fellow singer/songwriter, Jay Jay Pistolet. The flat downstairs was occupied by Winston and Marcus of Mumford and Sons. Alan has revealed that he was once in a band named 'Sex Face' with Ted of Mumford and Sons.

In February 2010, Alan recorded a session at Maida Vale Studios for BBC Introducing and was interviewed by BBC Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton, who is a keen supporter of his work. Fearne first played Alan's track Chasing Time on 19 February 2010.

Alan's debut EP is released on 5 April 2010 through Mercury Records and his album True Love Stories was released on 25 June 2010.

In September 2010 Alan was dropped by Mercury Records.
