Carla Bley & Paul Haines

Escalator over the hill is mostly known as a jazz opera, but was released as a chronotransduction with words by Paul Haines, and music/composition/adaptation by Carla Bley. This particular collaboration lasted three years, for it was the time that it took to record, and produce this work. It's infamous "locked groove" ending of the LP was transcribed to the CD version, the hum at the end lasting for almost 20 minutes. Recorded in 1968-1971, released 1971.
