The John Sosebee Band is a one-of-a-kind, original, Hill Country/Juke Joint style Blues band that never fails to provide up-tempo, powerful, low-down-'n'-dirty Blues beats all night long. No matter where they are playing (in a bar for locals or on a stage for thousands) these boys always get the crowd up and out of their seats and onto the dance floor.
Delivering sensational slide guitar work, soulful vocals, and highly-energetic beats they defy the norm in an innovative and unprecedented way that always has the audience wanting more and more.
The band is made up of two half brothers .. John Sosebee and Jacob Gise .. and is often compared to R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, The Black Keys, The North Mississippi Allstars, and John Spencer's Blues Explosion although they feature one of the most unique setup you'll ever see or hear from any band.
Sosebee handles kick drum, foot-snare and high-hat duties, along with the usual vocals, and amazing guitar, while his younger brother fills out the bottom and top with strong bass guitar and his exclusive foot percussion setup with the crash cymbals. Together, these two poor boys from Georgia have created the first true "Power Duo", with a huge sound that is regularly mistaken for a four piece band.
With over 15 years of experience in some of the South's top venues, and now appearing regularly all across the Southeast, it's truely a sight and sound that has to be experienced to be believed. These two brothers create a huge sound with their custom foot drum set, and use NO backing tracks or digital prerecorded media to aid in their show. All real instruments, all the time. What you hear on these recordings is basically exactly what you will hear in a live performance.
In late 2009 the break-out album "Can't Get Satisfied" was released to great reception. Lately, the John Sosebee Band has performed at several large festivals and venues including; George's Music Springing the Blues Festival in Jacksonville Beach, Fl (100,000+ in attendance), Smith's Olde Bar and, Fat Matt's in Atlanta, The Roadhouse and The Boar's Head in Athens, Ga and many more.
Able to get even the largest crowds on their feet and havin' the time of their lives, and with experience at some of the South's largest Blues festivals and clubs, The John Sosebee Band NEVER disappoints with their incredible performances. They have opened for famous performers such as: Delbert McClinton, Cedric Burnside and Lightin' Malcom and have played in venues such as: Blind Willie's, Fatt Matt's Rib Shack, Smith's Olde Bar, and many more. Don't forget to look at the calender and check out a show near you!
