Rogue Male

Rogue Male was the brainchild of Northern Ireland born singer/guitairst Jim Lyttle, who had previously been in the seminal Northern Irish punk band Pretty Boy Floyd and The Gems. Moving to London in the early 1980s he decided to put together a band that would mix punk styles and aggression with the more metal sounds of the NWOBHM bands of the time. After a series of line-ups, a stable touring band was produced, this line-up's live performances gained the attentions of several record companies, the band secured a deal with the metal label Music For Nations and Elektra USA. The first Rogue Male album, First Visit, was recorded by "Jim Lyttle" guitar/vocals, John Fraser-Binnie guitar, Kevin Collier bass, and Steve Kingsley drums. The album was well received critically, and Rogue Male toured the UK/Europe and the USA extensively in support of it, received album of the month status worldwide and were awarded "Top International New Artist 1986". The second album Animal Man, was released and this to received album of the month status worldwide in all the top rock/metal journals. Rogue Male departed from Music For Nations and Elektra because both record companies did nothing to promote or enhance the bands musical career. Both albums were re-released on an independent Polish record label in 2007 and have again received worldwide critical acclaim. Rogue Male were credited as being the next big thing and indeed they were, they never received a bad review for live and recorded work. The press adored them and live audiences worshipped them. A truly great British punk rock metal band.
