Yukitomo Hamasaki is a Japanese interior designer and sound sculptor based in Tokyo. He was originally part of Philippe Chatelain's Orchestra, an experiment in collective improvisation where a single sound source is manipulated by a group of laptop-wielding musicians. They were awarded for their influential Line Surface Noise installation in 2002. Hamasaki envisions the creation of soundscapes with its intimate bonds with architecture, image-making and design, by producing projects at the intersection of these disciplines.
Hamasaki envisions the creation of soundscapes with its intimate bonds with architecture, image-making and design, by producing projects at the intersection of these disciplines. Hamasaki has mastered transmitting the presence of various layers of sound which shifts when the listener moves through space because of the way it shapes and distorts all of the surrounding environmental noise or silence.
