ViralEssence formed at the beginning of 2006 after a chance meeting on the Drum N Bass forum Spinwarp between DJ/singer-songwriter Essence and Contayjen (then known as Virus). After an initial session to record vocals for Embers and Doing Fine Now, a jam sparked up and gave birth to Green Bliss. Within days of its promo release in April, Green Bliss was requested for the Listening Lounge slot in Computer Music Magazine and appeared in Issue 101.
In the same week it was released, Green Bliss clocked in at no.1 on the MP3Unsigned Official Chart and permission to remix was requested by producers E:mortal and C.A.B.L.E. The C.A.B.L.E. remix was signed and released on BC Presents' compilation CD Bad Taste II in November 06 and played on BBC Radio's Asian Network. Their second track Embers was finally released in May, also reaching no.1 on the MP3Unsigned Official Chart.
A remix competition on Battle of the Beatz received 12 entries, one of which (Synrgy's Sundown Mix) was signed by In da Jungle Recordings and has been featured in DJ mixes worldwide.
Accompanying a video of the track Nasty Intentions (available from the YouTube in the links section below) in November, a second remix competition was announced, receiving 15 entries. The Nasty Intentions video, directed and produced by Essence was voted as one of the three MP3Unsigned 'Video of the Year 2006'.
