Electric, Acoustic & Synthesizer Guitars
A schooled musician, Tony studied theory and harmony for ten years and attended the Hartt College Of Music majoring in classical guitar and composition. Tony is skilled in a variety of musical styles including: jazz, blues, bluegrass, classical and rock. This diversification led to positions arranging and producing with Talent Associates Agency of Miami and with ABC Records as a studio musician. Tony left the east coast to play in a Los Angeles heavy metal band. Returning to Connecticut he performed in several bands before forming HOLDING PATTERN in 1981. Through the release of world wide albums, videos, and concertizing with Steve Morse, Kansas, Rick Wakeman and Steve Howe to name a few. HOLDING PATTERN built a loyal following of fans around the globe.
Tony's split with HP in 1992 prompted him to start a new band to support the release of his critically acclaimed ?BALANCE OF POWER? album and a chance to return to a more progressive/guitarist style of music. BALANCE OF POWER was enjoyed not only by fans of HP but helped create a solo career to a growing audience in just about every country.
Tony's album ?THE HUMAN ELEMENT? was released January 2005, and created a buzz in the prog community based on press releases, zine reviews, requests for advance orders and strong coverage in various media.
The album featured a new streamlined lineup, comprised of Tony Spada guitars/synth guitar, ace session man Rob Gottfried on drums, and the multi-talented Tony Castellano on bass/keyboards. Although basically a power trio, ?THE HUMAN ELEMENT? stretches out in many directions, from classical guitar music, to a heavy prog fusion, Celtic and old style symphonic prog.
Tony has also recently been inducted to the ?Progressive Rock Hall of Fame? and signed an artist endorsement deal with ErnieBall/MusicMan of California
and has toured with Italy's Alex Carpani Band a guest guitarist on their?Waterline? tour in the U.S,Hollywood's acclaimed S.I.R. and Mexico at BajaProg 2008.
