The Violettes hail from Minneapolis, MN, one of the richest and diverse musical environments a band could ask for. On their debut self-titled release, the Violettes enlisted the talents of producer, Bryan Hanna, whose credits include, The Hang Ups, Papas Fritas, and The Great Depression, just to name a few. Together, they have created haunting and unforgettable soundscapes - a sound which recently invited the opportunity to work with musical legends, Alan Sparhawk from Low and Marc Di Gli Anotonio from Soul Coughing, on the Elegy Project.
Captivating melodies hover atop landscapes that vary from mountains of noise to the most delicate and fragile drops of light. Songwriter and vocalist, Sarah Khan's images conjure the visual world around us. Her voice shimmers off the pallet of guitar work by Mark Ilaug, all the while keeping a solid foothold on the foundation of bassist, John Ancell and drummer, Scott Haughawout.
Never certain where their journey will take them, The Violettes careen onto yet one more curve in their path. Sarah Khan and Scott Haughawout blend their voices for a mesmerising Softshow, gently resting on sitar, cello, and the rich sounds of organ.
