The Thornbirds were hatched in Hollywood, CA when Russ Parrish (vocals, guitar) and Darren Leader (drums) got bored playing disco and wearing afro wigs four nights a week to pay the rent. Armed with an arsenal of cool songs from Russ' 8-track recorder and a whole lot of "sack," they set off to rock LA. After recording and producing their first 5-song CD and playing every two weeks at the Coconut Teaszer to an ever-growing fan base, they were deemed the LA Music Awards Showcase Best Pop Act out of hundreds of bands.
After adding second guitarist and sex symbol Jimmy Oleson and acquiring bassist Dean Cameron, it's only a matter of time before they win the Best Pop Act award for San Bernardino, Barstow, Fontana, and other Southern California cities. With influences ranging from The Beatles and Todd Rundgren to old Judas Priest and other unmentionable hair bands, The Thornbirds have created a 13-song CD and are currently recording another batch of awesome tunes that are sure to please any music fan.
