The Round, like many bands, was formed when two of the founding members met at a 1985 Wham! concert. The story goes that a then 7 year old Cory spilled his Coke on an unsuspecting Mike, aged 3, causing him to cry. Sometime in February of 2003 by an amazing stroke of dumb luck the two met again in a small room with guitars and they decided it would be best to form a rock band. Later in June of 03, a mercenary drummer named Roy whored his talent out to the fledgling pair to form a trio of bandits who played music on weekends.
A two song demonstration disc featuring Cenotaph and Six Gun was recorded in October 03 with Mike filling in the empty bass slot. Before years end however Cory was kidnapped by a rogue drummer turned bassist called Jeremiah. A foul, evil man. After forcing an introduction to the rest of the members to himself , Jeremiah he-bitch-manslapped his way into the vacant bass position, solidifying the lineup of the Round or so we thought. The band practiced twice before playing it's first show and then set out upon many adventures including but not limited to: dragon slaying, an Asian cooking course, jump rope, magazines. Later, Jeremiah evaded prosecution to join The Round in recording their first full length album Capital in February of 2005. Capital is ten songs displaying the power of The Round as a four-piece. After playing shows at a dizzying pace for a couple months, The Round went on hiatus due to internal love triangles. Mike and Roy dabbled in elevator music, while Cory and Jeremiah tried to create the new industry standard for white noise on channel 3 of your television. Neither project succeeded and everyone agreed it would be best to reform The Round. Then Cory's childhood dream of becoming a venture capitalist finally came true and he left the band declaring "ya'll just a trick but a trick don't walk on the sauce". No one, including Cory knew what this meant. Once again a three-piece, the new low-carb Round had gone back to playing shows at a dizzying pace until they found themselves coming to a hault yet again with the departure of Roy who was moving to the North Pole to complete his mission of destroying an alleged man in a red suit and to somehow "bang" this man's wife. Good luck and godspeed to him. It was around that time that Jeremiah hatched an egg he'd found on the street and dubbed what came out of it Ryan Martin. Within a few weeks time Ryan grew into a sturdy man and learned the Round drum parts as if by magic. The Round has been integral to the formation of The Maxwell House Foundation For Starving Artists. Other more impressive accolades will be forthcoming as soon as we steal them...
