THE OVERDUBS are the brainchild of Ryan Townsend who started the band as a part-time project while in Orange County during 2003. Since then the band has included many members depending on where Townsend lived at during the time. They have played shows in Orange County, Los Angeles, Davis and Fresno, California. The band has also played shows in Idaho and Missouri. In December 2010, a new single titled "Go There With You" was made available through all major digital outlets.

In December 2010, a new single titled "Go There With You" was made available through all major digital outlets. In comments to the Fresno Bee Blog site BEEHIVE, Townsend indicated that the new recording was the first of many songs to be recorded with Tyler Duerr and promised a new album in 2011.

On Sept. 22, 2009, the band released the MISTAKES, NO MISTAKES ep through the web site NoiseTrade.com. Mistakes contains unreleased and alternate versions of songs from the overdubs podcast, a program that has been on the net for over two years.
