Vancouver based band, The Manvils, have a poetry that speaks to you from the barrel of a shotgun. Less than two years ago, four unique talents full of swagger, sweat and irrepressible charm burst onto the scene. Featuring an unpredictable, intense and unrivaled live show, The Manvils have finally arrived! Frontman Mikey Manville's soulful voice is reminiscent of a young Presley; a preacher who has felt the tinge of heartbreak and unrequited love. Welsh guitarist Mark Parry creates an infused psychedelic landscape, by wielding his axe like a maniacal mod.
Bassist Greg Buhr's boogie is unleashed ? daggers in the heart. And drummer Andy Mac squares things up with relentless "no mas" backfiring drums. Altogether, The Manvils preach an inspired, electric sermon at every show.
The band recorded their much anticipated first full length album in late 2005. ?Buried Love? was recorded in two sessions by Jay Solyom (The Spitfires) and Terry Murray (Shocore) at Profile Sound, and produced by Chicago great, John Akred. The critically acclaimed record ?Buried Love? is 45 minutes of soul-bearing rock ?n' rock, and inspired guitar licks that will get you out of your seat, grooving to the rhythm and shaking the dust off your shit-kicking boots.
In the calm before the storm that is ?Buried Love? The Manvils have managed to create a buzz, which has found them capturing key slots with well respected bands which include the UK Number 1 sellers Stereophonics, They Might Be Giants, The Horrorpops, Darediablo, The High Dials, and The Bellrays, as well as having shared the stage with Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe. The band has risen to the top of their league, continually selling out gigs with their unique blues-heavy 60's sound, offset by psychedelic flirtations and the bittersweet poetry of heartbreak.
The Manvils will defy you to take your eyes and ears off them!
