The Last Barbarians

Philadelphia's The Last Barbarians are four thunder-hungry music connoisseurs that have banded together from a collage of musical influences to form their infectious, groovy, and flat out bludgeoning style they call - Barbarian. The Last Barbarians formed in the winter of 2006, when drummer Adam Phaneuf, formerly of Come Dionysus, invited over past band mates - funky guitarist Dan Reilly and slap-happy bassist John Walters, of the once famed Flip McNally - for some over due jamming.

Within a week, the trio became a quarto, adding longtime aficionado of all things metal, vocalist Mike McCaughan. McCaughan had just returned from a shot stint in Miami where he had made a pact with bassist John Walters to collaborate harmonically upon returning to West Chester. The coinciding of the two plans could not have been anymore perfect. The Barbarians were soon armed with a throng of new material and performed at their first show in a mere month.

Vocalist Mike McCaughan is the hell raiser. He expresses his beliefs through thunderous screams and anarchistic undertones that fuel the connection between The Last Barbarians and their listeners.
Drummer Adam Phaneuf transpires as the unshakeable backbone of the group. He takes his influences from bands like NOFX and Nirvana and mixes them with the lust for juicy fills inspired by Neil Pert and Buddy Rich.
Bassist John Walters is the Mad Scientist, a free-formed virtuoso who draws influence from conscious existence.
Guitarist Dan Reilly represents the band's pursuit to happiness. He creates an emotionally charged blend of rhythm and lead guitar styles through the inspiration of guitar legends such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani and John Frusciante.


Performing at places like the Trocadero in Philadelphia, Rex's Bar in West Chester, PA, and The Pussycat Lounge in NYC, the next move for The Last Barbarians is to take over the entire East Coast with the release of their new EP, "Weekend Warrior?, released on March 22, 2008.
