It came from The Pit...the now defunct subterranean club that broke the acid jazz/funk/disco scene in Ottawa and beyond. The Thursday night house gig with The Hammerheads was notorious for it's packed-out, full-on, all-night, booty-bustin', massive party jam.....and it kept on going. The band has been serving up the sugar in the Nation's Capitol for the last five years and are four time recipients of the award for Ottawa's favourite live band/artist, as voted by the readers of X Press magazine.

The Hammerheads' music pays homage to the grandmasters of 70's funk (P.Funk, Cameo, Chic, The J.B.'s, Kool & The Gang, Rick James, Ohio Players, BT Express, SOS Band, etc...). In concert the band uses classic dusties and originals as the foundation of a continuous live jam. Disco, funk, reggae, rock, rap, old-school, dance hall and jazz are all part of the flow... a flow built on non-stop drum and bass, guaranteed to satisfy the most discriminating freak.
