The Gothic Rangers

From the War Between the States to Southern hallucinations, the Gothic Rangers square off against raven-haunted traumas, subduing them with electric energy and lyrical passion. Tim Buck's songwriting roots were nourished in the Americana soil of Dylan, Fogerty, and Springsteen, among others. Guitarist Robin Willhite counts Glen Schwartz (Pacific Gas & Electric), Joe Walsh (James Gang), and Marc Bolin (T Rex) among his stylistic influences; his strings now spark with an edgy uniqueness.

Tim and Robin performed together in Little Rock, AR 20 years ago and recently reunited to work up this batch of songs. For the past 15 years, Tim had listened exclusively to classical music. This past fall, he heard Sprinsteen's song "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" and was stunned anew at the power and possibility of popular music. He retrieved his guitars from the closet and began dusting off some old tunes and writing some fresh ones.
