3) In 2002, Paul Jarvie and Paolo Mischianti were grade 11 students at Charles Best high school in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Each musical from an early age ? Paolo trained in classical piano, guitar and bass and Paul in piano and singing ? the two were united by a common love of The Beach Boys, vocal harmony, and girls. After learning a few covers of songs by bands such as The Beach Boys and The Beatles, the pair quickly earned a reputation as two of the more musically talented students in school and were asked by a friend to put together a band to play at a birthday party. Confronted with the problem of finding a guitarist and drummer to complement Paolo's bass playing and Paul's singing, the two quickly turned to their friends Danny Blackburn and Mike Jones from Centennial Secondary, who by serendipity happened to be the most talented guitarist and drummer, respectively, in their school. Although competent, the then-cover band bore little resemblance to the eclectically creative group which they would become. Nevertheless, their reception was overwhelmingly positive and soon the four friends were inspired to begin writing their own original music. The diverse range of elements which each brought to the music ? layered vocal harmonies, surf guitar-esque riffs, buoyant and energetic bass lines, and reggae-influenced drumming ? combined to create the unusual style that distinguishes The Goods from their peers in the music world. ?Get Rich Quick Scheme,? The Goods' entirely self-engineered, mixed and produced EP, was completed in the summer of 2005 after a year and a half of ambitious writing and recording in Mike Jones's bedroom/studio, and released on a limited scale to an enthusiastic and growing fan base. The Goods are currently writing new material, planning live appearances for Spring/Summer 2006, and will soon have available a new recording featuring new material as well as re-recorded songs from their first album.
