There have been more than one band with this name. 1. A garage trio from Amarillo who recorded at Norman Petty's studio in the 60s. Drummer/singer Jd Souther later found fame as a writer, performer and actor. 2. In San Fransisco running parallel to the punk movement in the late 70s there was a pop music explosion that owed more to rock bands such as the Stones, the Byrds, the Animals etc, than to the Sex Pistols, the Clash etc. The Cinders were of that genre, along with the Readymades and others, who straddled that line between old school rock and the more frenetic punk sound of the time.

Masterwerks recently aquired the rights to the entire Cinders catalogue. This newly remastered CD (recorded at Straylight Studios in Burbank) includes the only ten songs known to have been professionally recorded by the group.
