Ted Ekman

Singer-songwriter, Ted Ekman, was born in the magnificent city of Rockford, Illinois, an illustrious midwestern gem that Money Magazine regularly ranks as the worst place to live in America. He went to high school and college in Texas, and later moved to Boulder, CO, then San Francisco, CA, and finally Berkeley, CA where he currently resides. Ekman lent his guitar and vocal "skills" to various obscure indie bands before going solo. These included Peter Luxury, Pharmicon, & Blue Pear. His music is mostly acoustic emo with some tracks bending more toward unplugged rock/pop, or alt country.

His edgy, dynamic songs often seem very personal in nature, and are typically delivered at a high level of intensity. Most of Ekman's recordings are simply voice and guitar and can be described as skeletal or naked. Lush instrumentation and polished production are usually avoided, leaving little distraction from his piercingly idiosyncratic style.
