Sumo Elevator is a heavy elevator music trio from Israel. Formed in 2006 by Yevgeny Kushnir (guitars) and Oleg Szumski (drums), the band's line-up changed in its first two years. In 2008, Mark Lekhovitser (bass guitars) and Alik Furman (synthesizers) joined. Shortly after that, the quartet recorded and released its debut EP ho-muwa-ku which defined its unique sound and direction. After a series of promotional shows in Israel, Mark moved on.

While seeking a new bassist, the trio continued experimenting and came up with a powerful big sound by splitting the bass guitar parts between the guitar and synthesizers. The reduced line-up opened up new possibilities for composing, improvising and arranging that were not possible for the band as a quartet. Necessity is the Mother of Invention! So, needless to say, the band streamrolled forward as trio.
Sumo Elevator is currently performing shows in Israel, wowing new fans worldwide, and producing fresh, exciting material (which can also be heard on live shows, of course) for their full-length album.
We dream to be played in your elevator.
