There appear to be 2 bands named Stick Shift, below is the biog for the English Stoner Rock band - on this page our material is: Plastic and 27 Angels...more to follow: "Stick Shift is a welcome blast of some old-school stoner rock brought bang up-to-date for the current day, and will moisten the eyes (and possibly the trousers) of Queens of the Stone-age, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Goatsnake or Electric Wizard fans everywhere." ? Recently supporting the likes of Sons of Albion, and Gonga on stage, Guildford-based Stick Shift are building a reputation as an exceptional live act. Drawing comparisons with among others Orange Goblin and Unida, Stick Shift have been wowing audiences all over the South of England since February 2008.
Lead guitarist and principle songwriter Matt McFarlane started the band back in 2005, taking his time to ensure that he found the right people to join the project. With bassist Tom Wavre already on board, it was a year before drummer Lewis Neale joined, then a further year until Poly Orchid frontman Luke Bradley lent his furious roaring and gentle Maynard James Keenan-style crooning to the mix. The final piece in the jigsaw, Duncan Watkinson, joined at the end of 2007 and provides Stick Shift with that little something different; warped, dark and brooding synths.
The 3 tracks on their self-titled demo have been played regularly at the Metal Hammer award winning club Schism and have been picked up by internet radio shows, including Nottingham-based Brap FM. However, the highlight of the band's career so far is undoubtedly getting a massive vote of confidence from Strangler's legend, Jean Jaques Burnel.
If 2008 laid the groundwork, 2009 promises to be a massive year for Stick Shift. Huge riffs coupled with great moments of subtlety and depth make this a band you have to hear!
