Born in Minnesota, raised in Winnipeg, Steve Schellenberg's musical roots are deep. From his father's cowboy songs to his uncle Solli's hootenannies at Lake Winnipeg, Steve's childhood was steeped in folk tradition. With the encouragement of a junior high school teacher Steve began playing guitar and writing poetry in grades seven and eight, skills that have been finely honed though life experience.
Steve's deep commitment to humanitarianism led to years of volunteer work in soup kitchens and shelters across Western Canada. These experiences are reflected in Steve's writing, not through mere observation, but from the heart of a man who believes one person can make a difference. In a world shrouded in fear and indifference, Steve's music and quick wit provide a common ground.
Steve Schellenberg is an astute observer of the human condition. His life long love of Americana and traditional folk music becomes a canvas and each song he creates contains the subtle strokes of a master, whether it's a robust traveling song or a tale of lost love.
