Steve Massey

Steve Massey was born in China Lake, California and grew up in the Los Angeles area with a move to the San Francisco Bay Area during high school days. He started playing guitar at age 7 taking guitar lessons for about a year but then began to be self taught. Later in life Steve had the privilege of studying music composition and guitar theory privately for four years with Jai Josefs (author of book "Writing Music for Hit Songs") and songwriting with Steve Seskin (songwriter of hits by Neal Mccoy, Tim McGraw, John Michael Montgomery, Alabama and others).

Steve will be studying fingerstyle guitar with Alex De Grassi (Grammy nominated fingerstyle guitarist) the summer of 2004.
Steve has had songs on rotation on FM radio nationally, with songs used in corporate videos and as background tracks on cable TV.
He has performed in various venues in the Los Angeles area as well as SanFranciso Bay area, Nashville, TN and Oregon. In past years Steve has been an active member of LASS, NSAI, NCSA and NAS songwriter organizations.
In the 90s Steve had a light pop, jazz band in the Los Angeles area that played various cafes and clubs in the Southern California area.
In 1989 Steve and his family moved to southern Oregon where the natural beauty of the area has inspired most of his new fingerstyle compositions as heard on both "Northwest" CD released in 2004 on Hill View Music and "Wood" CD released also on Hill View in 2003. Steve lives with his wife and daughter in Southern Oregon now and performs in the Northwest area.
