Stellar Tuesday is a New York based rock/powerpop/punk band formed in the early 2000s. The band was founded by Eric Hauptman, a mountain biker from Ulster County, U.S. He headed to Manhattan and became a jazz guitar performance major at New York University, graduating in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in music. Stellar Tuesday began performing in 2002 and self-released a five-song EP in May 2003. The band got a good reception and were selected to be a part of the ?Urban Noise, Vol. 1 - Traffic? compilation (a release which contained some of the most talented New York based bands).

The band got a good reception and were selected to be a part of the ?Urban Noise, Vol. 1 - Traffic? compilation (a release which contained some of the most talented New York based bands). This album turned out to be a huge success and was a major factor in Stellar Tuedays increasing popularity.
For their second release, Stellar Tuesday worked with Grammy nominated producer Steve Addabbo (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin). At this point, the band was rated as one of great talent and someone to "watch out for". The EP was released in 2004, but was never the success many expected.
