The story and sound of Status Green began long before the bands formation, in 2005. In some ways Status Green was born into something brewing some fifty years in the making. Growing up in New Jersey to a healthy soundtrack of classic rock and left to spend their adolescence in the windy valley of influence that lies between New York City and Asbury Park, the end result couldn't be more fitting. One part the glory days of the E Street Band and another part the poppy fuzz of Blondie...
Like all classic Rock & Roll folk tales, Status Green formed from a drug induced summer full of daydreams and motorcycle diaries. Lou Montesano returned home from his travels inspired and went right to work, rallying his childhood friends around some very big ideas and at that time, some very small songs.
Left to cut their teeth without the benefit of a scene with which they neatly fit, Status Green had to rely on the work ethic they were raised with, playing shows up and down the East Coast on their own terms. It wasn't long before they began to see that they were on to something, that something was happening. In three short years, Status
Green came from local obscurity to sell out The Stone Pony and the now defunct CBGB's. The band recorded and self released their first album, selling over three thousand copies with the vast majority being at live shows. To the delight of their hometown the band opened for Bon Jovi after winning a tri state listener poll on 95.5 WPLJ. By any measure, the band's independent release has been a rave success, not to mention, the enthusiastic response the band receives on Yahoo Music, several commercial rock and alternative radio stations, and the licensing of their music to the TV show, Guiding Light.
Status Green are currently writing and recording when not on the road. The world is about to hear a lot more from Status Green. If the last three years have shown us anything it is evident that Status Green will not be waiting for the world to come to them.
