This is the name of Marilyn Manson's first band which was originally situated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formed in 1989, the band slowly began to define their sound a gather a regional fanbase after performing at many small venues in Florida. Although the band created enjoyable music and manged to entertain crowds with an unusually theatrical shows, arguments would commonly erupt between bandmembers offstage as they fought over creative control and drug abuse. Manson, who worked as a music journalist, formed a relationship with Trent Reznor.
Reznor was a bandmember in "Nine Inch Nails." After opening for "Nine Inch Nails" and playing at other larger venues, popularity began to soar. The band, which had recently shortened to Marilyn Manson, landed a record deal and released their debut in 1994. They mainstream by the winter of 1995 (after the release of their second album), but only one original bandmember remained. Daisy Berkowitz, the only surviving bandmember, quit by 1996. The recording of their third album was in progress and a replacement was hastily found. By 1997, Manson was at the peak of his career. It started as "Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids."
